Jungle Strike is one of those classic Genesis games that makes you feel like a one-person army. You start off piloting a Comanche helicopter, blowing up drug cartel bases in South America—until suddenly you're switching to a hovercraft or even a stealth bomber mid-mission. The isometric view takes some getting used to, but once you do, weaving through enemy fire while unloading missiles feels surprisingly smooth.
Ortega's jungle hideouts are just the beginning—later you're taking on Kilbaba's desert fortress, dodging tanks and anti-air turrets. The vehicle variety keeps it interesting, though I always preferred the bike for those tight canyon chases. Just don't expect a walk in the park—this game throws some brutal ambushes at you when you least expect them.
It's aged better than most early '90s action games, mostly because blowing stuff up never gets old.
