Jungle Strike is one of those Genesis games that still holds up—you hop into a chopper loaded with missiles and miniguns, then tear through jungles and city streets trying to stop some terrorist maniacs. The controls feel surprisingly tight for a 90s flight sim, and the missions mix straight-up dogfights with sneaky sabotage runs where you drop commandos behind enemy lines.
What I love is how the terrain actually matters—you’ll skim rooftops to dodge SAM sites or duck into canyons to shake pursuers. And yeah, the graphics are blocky by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about watching pixelated explosions bloom after a well-placed rocket hit. Just don’t get cocky—run out of fuel mid-mission, and you’re done.
It’s the kind of game where you fail a level three times, then suddenly pull off a flawless run and feel like an action hero. Still one of the best in the Strike series.
