Jungle Strike is one of those classic Genesis games where you're basically a one-person army against some seriously over-the-top villains. You start off piloting a Comanche helicopter, blowing up drug cartel bases in South America—because of course the bad guy is a drug lord named Ortega. The controls feel surprisingly tight for an isometric shooter, though I still crash into palm trees more often than I'd like to admit.

What's cool is you don't just stick to the helicopter. Later missions throw you into a hovercraft, an F117 stealth bomber (which handles like a brick, but hey, it's stealthy), and even this weird attack bike that somehow survives rocket fire. The Middle Eastern levels with Kilbaba—this deranged warlord—get ridiculous in the best way, like something out of an '80s action movie. Just don't expect deep storytelling; it's all about blowing stuff up with that sweet 16-bit explosion noise.

It's the kind of game where you'll fail a mission because you accidentally ran over a civilian with your hovercraft, then immediately restart to do it perfectly. The beta tag makes sense—some mechanics feel a little rough, but that almost adds to the charm.
