I remember picking up The Jungle Book for the Sega Genesis back in 1994. It was published by Virgin Interactive, one of many games trying to capture the feel of a Disney movie on the 16-bit consoles. The graphics were bright and colorful, fitting right in with other platformers of the time.

You control Mowgli through a series of side-scrolling levels, jumping on platforms and avoiding enemies like Kaa the snake and Shere Khan. Your main goal is simply to get through each stage to the end, which involves a lot of climbing vines and swinging from branches. You can collect red gems for points and find special items that give you different attacks, like throwing coconuts or using a temporary invincibility star. The game moves at a steady pace, but some of the later levels get quite tricky with their enemy placement and platforming challenges. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes demanding, run through the jungle.
