About Joe & Mac
Joe & Mac came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by Data East. It was one of many side-scrolling action games from that period, a time when colorful characters and simple, direct gameplay were common on the platform.
You control one of two cavemen, Joe or Mac, running and jumping through prehistoric levels. Your main goal is to rescue cavewomen kidnapped by a rival tribe of neanderthals. You move screen by screen, using weapons like bones, boomerangs, and fire wheels to defeat dinosaurs and other enemies. The game can be played with a second person, which makes the chaotic levels a bit more manageable. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is noticeable, especially with the limited continues. It feels like a straightforward, energetic scramble from start to finish.
