James Bond 007: The Duel on Sega Genesis is one of those early '90s action games that feels like a relic—in a good way. You play as Bond (obviously), running through side-scrolling levels shooting henchmen, dodging traps, and occasionally hopping into a vehicle for a change of pace. The controls are a little stiff by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about the way enemies explode into pixelated chunks when you hit them just right.
First level drops you right into a jungle with guards popping out everywhere—no tutorial, no hand-holding. You’ll figure out the jump mechanics fast because missing a platform means instant death. The music’s got that classic Sega synth vibe, and Bond’s sprite actually looks decent for the era. Not gonna lie, some of the later levels get brutal with cheap enemy placement, but that was just how games rolled back then.
If you’re into retro shooters with a license twist, this one’s a fun time capsule. Just don’t expect GoldenEye-level depth.
