Jack Nicklaus' Power Challenge Golf on the Genesis is one of those early golf sims that actually gets the feel right—no gimmicks, just solid swings and punishing greens. You start by picking from a few classic courses (wind matters way more than you'd think), and the swing meter has that perfect balance of tension—too fast, and you're in the rough; too slow, and the ball barely rolls.
What I love is how the game doesn’t hold your hand. Misjudge the slope on the green? Enjoy your three-putt nightmare. But when you nail a long iron shot or sink a tricky 15-footer, it feels legit. The commentary’s sparse, just like real golf, so it’s all about you versus the course. And yeah, having Nicklaus’ name on it means the mechanics actually respect golf logic—no arcadey power-ups here.
It’s not flashy, but if you want a no-nonsense golf game where every club choice matters, this one’s still weirdly satisfying decades later.
