About J. League Pro Striker 2 (japan)
J. League Pro Striker 2 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, a time when the console was still home to a lot of dedicated sports titles. Sega published it, and it was one of several Japanese exclusive soccer games that focused on the J. League, which was then a relatively new professional league. This was a follow up to the first game, offering an updated roster and some refinements for fans of the sport who owned a Mega Drive.
You control a full team of eleven players, passing the ball between them to work it up the field and into the opponent's net. The main objective is simply to score more goals than the other team within the match time. A couple of its signature mechanics include a through pass that sends a teammate sprinting ahead into open space and a sliding tackle that, while effective, can easily result in a foul if mistimed. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the computer opponents provide a decent challenge, making you work for every scoring opportunity. It feels responsive and direct, a solid arcade style soccer game from that era.
