I picked up The Incredible Hulk for the Nintendo DS back in 2008, a time when movie tie-ins were a regular sight on the handheld. SEGA published it, and it was one of those games you'd see on the shelf hoping it captured some of the character's destructive appeal. You control the Hulk, smashing your way through a New York City under siege. The main goal is to stop the Leader and his army of mercenaries, which involves moving from one city block to the next. The signature mechanics are all about destruction; you can tear cars in half to use as improvised weapons, scale buildings to gain a vantage point, and pummel enemies with a suite of powerful ground pounds and grabs. The pacing is relentless, throwing waves of soldiers and mechs at you, and the difficulty comes from managing the constant onslaught while trying to complete specific mission objectives. It feels like a chaotic, cathartic release of power, especially when you trigger a super move and clear the screen in a single explosive burst.
