Hybrid Front, The (japan) (beta) Game

Ever stumble across a weird, half-finished Genesis game that makes you go "what is this?" That's Hybrid Front. It's this bizarre tactical RPG-meets-mech-battler that never got an official US release—just a Japan-only beta that leaked out. You've got grid-based movement like Fire Emblem, but with tanks and robots instead of knights.
The sprites are chunky in that early 90s way, and the menus are a mess of untranslated Japanese, but there's something oddly charming about it. I kept playing just to see what weird unit combinations would work (protip: don't sleep on the hover tanks). It's rough, but if you're into lost gaming curiosities, this one's a fascinating time capsule.
