Gunstar Heroes is one of those Genesis games that just feels different—like Treasure cranked the dial to "chaotic fun" and snapped it off. You start off picking between two weapon styles (I always go with the homing shots because aiming is for chumps), and then it just throws you into this wild mix of running, gunning, and occasionally suplexing enemies because why not?
The colors pop like a Saturday morning cartoon, but don’t let that fool you—the screen gets absolutely packed with bullets, explosions, and weird little robot guys screaming at you. There’s a boss fight where you’re sliding down a giant dice tower while everything falls apart around you, and honestly? It rules.
Still holds up as one of the best action games on the Genesis. If you’ve never played it, you’re missing out.
