You control Greendog himself, navigating a series of side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to collect five pieces of a mystical amulet to break a curse. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across platforms and using your surfboard as a weapon to knock out enemies like skeletons and giant crabs. You also spend time gathering golden doubloons, which are used to buy helpful items from shops scattered throughout the stages. The pacing is generally relaxed, and the challenge isn't too punishing, making it more accessible than some of the tougher platformers from that period. It feels like a straightforward, breezy adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously.
