Remember those Where's Waldo? books you used to flip through as a kid? This Sega Genesis version takes the third book—the one with the deep sea divers and haunted castles—and turns it into a pixel hunt. You’ve got a time limit, so no leisurely scanning like the old days. The music’s oddly intense for a game about finding a guy in stripes, and some of the scenes get weirdly crowded (looking at you, carnival level).
It’s not perfect—Waldo’s sprite is tiny, and sometimes you swear he wasn’t there a second ago—but there’s something satisfying about finally spotting him in a mess of pirates or dinosaurs. The two-player mode’s the real highlight, though. Nothing like watching your friend panic as the clock runs down.
Definitely a nostalgia trip, but good luck explaining to anyone why you’re squinting at a CRT in 2024.
