About George Foreman?s Ko Boxing
I remember picking up George Foreman's KO Boxing for the Sega Genesis back in 1992. It was published by Acclaim Entertainment, one of those sports titles that tried to capture the feel of boxing during the 16-bit era. It wasn't the flashiest game on the system, but it had a certain straightforward appeal if you were into the sport.
You control a boxer, moving him around the ring to land punches on your opponent. The main goal is to win fights and climb the ranks, eventually facing George Foreman himself. The gameplay involves a lot of careful positioning; you use a side view of the ring and need to get in close to throw jabs and hooks. A stamina meter is crucial, as swinging wildly will leave you exhausted and open to counterattacks. The difficulty ramps up noticeably as you progress, with later opponents blocking more and hitting much harder. It feels like a deliberate, sometimes plodding, test of patience and timing more than a frantic brawl.
