Garou Densetsu 2 – Aratanaru Tatakai (or Fatal Fury 2, if you're not into the whole Japanese title thing) is one of those Genesis fighters that somehow feels both stiff and chaotic at the same time. You pick from a roster of SNK's weirdest characters—I always go for Terry Bogard because his Rising Tackle move is stupidly satisfying when it connects.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the way characters stagger when they take a heavy hit. Special moves take some practice to pull off consistently, and the AI loves to spam grabs if you give it half a chance. Not gonna lie, the single-player gets repetitive after a while, but couch versus matches with a friend? That’s where this game shines.
It’s definitely a product of its time—no flashy combos or elaborate supers here, just raw, slightly janky 16-bit fighting. If you’re into retro brawlers, it’s a solid deep cut from SNK’s early days.
