Fun Car Rally is one of those old-school racers that feels janky at first—your car slides around like it's on ice, and the tracks are way narrower than they look. But after a few crashes (and there will be crashes), you start getting the hang of drifting around those tight corners.

The pixel art holds up surprisingly well—bright colors, chunky sprites, and that classic Sega blue sky in the background. The music’s got that early Genesis synth sound, all bouncy and energetic. It’s not as polished as something like OutRun, but there’s a weird charm to how rough it is.

You’ve got a few different cars to pick from, and they actually handle differently—the heavier one grips better but feels sluggish, while the lightweight one’s a nightmare on turns. I kept flipping between them, never quite satisfied. The tracks get brutal later on, with sudden hairpins and obstacles popping up out of nowhere. It’s the kind of game where you’ll swear at the screen, then immediately hit restart.

If you’re into retro racers, it’s a fun little time capsule—just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
