If you grew up watching Slam Dunk and wished you could step into Sakuragi’s shoes, this Sega Genesis game is basically that fantasy in 16-bit form. It’s a one-on-one basketball showdown with all the anime’s hotheaded energy—expect wild dunks, dramatic close-ups, and that one announcer who sounds way too hyped for a pixelated free throw.
You pick from the usual suspects (Hanamichi’s there, obviously, along with Rukawa and a few others), and the controls are simple enough that you’ll be pulling off flashy moves within minutes. The real charm? The little details, like how characters trash-talk mid-game or the way the crowd goes nuts when you nail a last-second shot. It’s janky in that classic early-'90s way, but if you’re into retro sports games or just love the anime, it’s a blast. Just don’t expect NBA Jam levels of polish.
Fair warning: the AI cheats sometimes. Rukawa’s three-pointers feel borderline supernatural.
