About Flashback (europe)
Flashback came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by Delphine Software. It was one of those games that felt different from the usual platformers and shooters of the time, with a heavy focus on its animated story and methodical pacing. You played as Conrad B. Hart, an amnesiac scientist trying to piece together what happened to him and stop an alien threat.
You guide Conrad through a series of interconnected, screen by screen environments, from the jungles of Titan to the streets of a futuristic Earth. Your main goal is to recover your lost memories and uncover the alien conspiracy. The game combines precise platforming with a simple inventory system and combat that uses a targeting reticle for your pistol. It is known for its deliberate pace and high difficulty, demanding careful observation and planning rather than quick reflexes. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a complex puzzle where every jump and conversation matters.
