Flashback on the Sega Genesis is one of those games that sticks with you. You play as Conrad, this amnesiac GBI agent in a slick cyberpunk future, and right from the start, you're thrown into this weird jungle planet with nothing but a pistol and some seriously smooth rotoscoped animations. The controls take a second to click—rolling and aiming feels weighty, almost like Prince of Persia but with blasters—but once they do, it's pure satisfaction.
What I love is how the story unfolds. You piece together Conrad's past through these weird flashbacks (hence the name) while dodging alien mercenaries and solving environmental puzzles. The art style? Still holds up—moody, detailed, and just dripping with that '90s sci-fi vibe. And yeah, it's tough. One wrong jump or mistimed shot, and you're reloading, but that just makes nailing a perfect run even sweeter.
If you missed this back in the day, it's basically a time capsule of everything great about cinematic platformers.
