Flash Point was a Sega Genesis release, though I don't recall the developer offhand. It came out during that period when the Genesis library was full of experiments, games that tried to blend different genres into something new. This one definitely stood out for its approach.

You control a lone operative navigating a series of isolated, multi-level buildings. Your primary goal is to rescue hostages before a timer runs out, which creates a constant, low-grade tension. The core loop involves moving screen by screen, clearing rooms of enemies with your standard firearm. Two mechanics define the experience: you can switch between different weapon types you find, and you must manage your limited ammunition carefully. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you check corners and plan your route to avoid wasting shots. It feels like a tense, calculated sweep through hostile territory.
