Final Fantasy VI Expert Version 2 takes the already-great SNES classic and cranks up the difficulty in ways that’ll make even veterans sweat. The first time I played, I got wrecked by a random encounter in the Narshe mines—yeah, it’s that kind of mod.
Same incredible story, same unforgettable characters (Kefka’s still the best-worst villain), but now with rebalanced stats, tougher bosses, and some sneaky surprises. Magicite choices actually matter now—no more breezing through with Ultima spam. And good luck trying to cheese the Phantom Train this time.
If you’ve memorized the original and want that "first playthrough" feeling again, this is the way to do it. Just don’t blame me when Vargas suplexes your entire party into oblivion.
