Final Fantasy III - Retrans is basically the SNES version of FFVI, but with a fan-made translation that smooths out some of the weird quirks from the original. You know how the old script had those awkward lines or moments that didn’t quite land? This fixes that while keeping the charm intact.
Right from the start, you’re thrown into this bleak, snowy wasteland with two soldiers escorting a girl who can’t remember anything—classic JRPG setup. The sprites still look great, and the tweaks here just make everything feel a little crisper. The Esper system is still my favorite part—mixing and matching magic to build your party never gets old, even if I always end up making Terra stupidly overpowered.
If you’ve played the original, it’s like revisiting an old friend with fewer translation hiccups. If you haven’t, this is probably the best way to experience one of the best RPGs ever made.
