About Fighting Masters
Fighting Masters came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by Treco. It was one of many side scrolling beat 'em ups on the system, a genre that was everywhere in arcades and on home consoles at the time. The game had a fantasy theme, which set it apart a little from the urban brawlers that were more common.
You control a single warrior, moving from left to right across each screen. Your goal is to defeat all the enemies in an area before you can proceed to the next. The combat is simple; you have a basic attack and a jump, along with a special spinning move that uses up some of your health. You fight with swords, axes, and occasionally a bow, facing monsters and other fantasy-themed fighters. The game is methodical, not fast, and the difficulty comes from being surrounded or cornered. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes plodding, test of your patience and positioning.
