Fantasia for the Sega Genesis came out in 1991, a time when the console was full of games trying to capture the feel of animated films. Sega published it, and it was one of those titles that stood out simply because of its source material. You knew right away it was aiming for something different from the typical platformers of the era.

You control Mickey Mouse, the sorcerer's apprentice, and your main goal is to clean up the flooded workshop by defeating enchanted brooms and containing the magical water. The gameplay is split between side scrolling platforming sections and first person maze like areas viewed from Mickey's perspective. You use a limited supply of magic notes to attack enemies or interact with objects, which makes you think carefully about when to use your power. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty comes from managing your resources while navigating the multi screen rooms. It feels like a strange, sometimes frustrating, but always memorable challenge to contain a magical disaster.
