FZ Senki Axis, or Final Zone if you're playing the US version, is one of those weird, kinda janky Genesis/Mega Drive games that somehow sticks with you. It's a mix of strategy and action—you control a squad of mechs in this post-apocalyptic warzone, moving them around a grid map before diving into real-time battles. The controls take some getting used to, and yeah, the graphics are rough even for the era, but there's something oddly satisfying about micromanaging your squad's loadouts and watching them blast through enemy lines.
First time I played, I got wrecked because I didn’t realize how much positioning mattered—turns out sending your heavy mech straight into a crowd is a bad idea. The music’s got that classic early '90s synth vibe too, all crunchy bass and urgency. Not for everyone, but if you like tactical games with a side of clunky charm, it’s worth a look.
