About Fifa Soccer 97 (usa, Europe) (en,fr,de,es,it,sv)
FIFA Soccer 97 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1996, published by EA Sports. It was part of the wave of sports games that tried to push the 16-bit hardware as far as it could go before the shift to newer consoles. You got a game that felt like a solid step up from its predecessors on the same system.
You control a full squad of eleven players, switching between them to pass, tackle, and shoot. The main goal is to outscore your opponent, of course. A couple of things that stood out were the isometric view, which gave the field a bit more depth than the straight top-down look, and the inclusion of actual club licenses, so you could play as real teams. The game moved at a decent clip, and the computer could put up a good fight on the higher difficulty settings. It felt responsive and satisfying when you strung a few passes together and slotted one into the net.
