F1 World Championship on the Genesis is one of those racers that nails the speed feel—like you're actually wrestling with a car instead of just steering a sprite. The tracks have this nice 16-bit sheen, and the sense of momentum when you hit a straight is weirdly satisfying for an old-school racer.
First lap in, you'll notice the AI drivers actually fight for position instead of just following a set path. I remember spinning out at Monaco because I got too aggressive on the hairpin and immediately regretted it. The handling takes a minute to click—brake early, ease into turns—but once it does, threading through chicanes feels great.
It's not perfect (the music loops get old fast), but for a Genesis-era F1 game, it holds up better than most. Just don't expect modern assists—this one makes you work for those podium finishes.
