Exo Squad (beta) Game

Exo Squad on the Genesis is one of those weird licensed games based on a cartoon I barely remember—something about humans fighting robot overlords in mech suits? The game throws you into three different playstyles depending on which character you pick: a ground-pounding soldier, a jetpack-wearing flyer, or this hulking mech that moves like a tank. The controls take a second to get used to, especially the jetpack guy—you’ll overshoot platforms a lot at first.
It’s got that early ‘90s jank where the hit detection feels a little off, but there’s something oddly satisfying about blasting through robot enemies with the mech’s shoulder cannon. The levels switch between side-scrolling and this weird pseudo-3D mode that’s more confusing than fun. Still, if you’re into obscure Genesis titles with bizarre source material, it’s a weird little time capsule.
