About Evander Holyfield's 'real Deal' Boxing (world)
Evander Holyfield's 'Real Deal' Boxing came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early 90s sports games trying to capture the feel of a live match, sitting alongside other boxing titles on the system that were pushing the limits of sprite animation and digitized sound.
You control a boxer, moving him around the ring to land punches on your opponent while avoiding their attacks. The main objective is to win fights, either by knockout or decision, to climb the ranks. Signature mechanics include a stamina meter that depletes with your actions, forcing you to manage your energy, and a first-person view during punching exchanges that zooms in on the action. The game has a deliberate pace; you cannot simply mash buttons, as wild swings quickly tire your fighter and leave you vulnerable. Landing a clean combination and seeing your opponent stagger provides a solid sense of impact.
