Ecco the Dolphin II is one of those weirdly beautiful Genesis games that sticks with you. You're still playing as Ecco, but this time you're diving into way more surreal underwater worlds—think ancient ruins, alien tech, and some seriously trippy dream sequences. The controls take a second to get used to (dolphin physics are weird), but once you nail the dash and sonar moves, gliding through those blue-green depths feels amazing.
Japan got a slightly different version with some extra cutscenes and tweaked difficulty. The soundtrack’s all dreamy synths and echoey whale calls, which somehow makes getting chased by sharks even more intense. It’s not for everyone—some puzzles are cryptic as heck—but if you’re into atmospheric ‘90s Sega vibes, this one’s a deep dive worth taking.
