About Earthworm Jim 2
Earthworm Jim 2 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1996, developed by Shiny Entertainment. It was a time when side-scrolling platformers were common, and this sequel built directly on the strange world of the first game. You could count on it for a certain brand of cartoonish action that fit right in with the console's library.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a powerful robotic suit, navigating a series of bizarre levels. Your main goal is simply to survive the stages and defeat the final boss to save Princess What's-Her-Name. The gameplay mixes running and gunning with your plasma blaster, using your own worm body as a whip to swing from hooks or attack enemies, and solving occasional puzzles. Some levels change the formula entirely, shifting into a dance-off or a submarine shooting gallery. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise platforming required over instant-death pits.
