Dynamite Headdy is one of those Genesis games that makes you go "what the heck am I even playing?" in the best way possible. You're this weird little puppet dude who can literally throw his own head at enemies—which sounds ridiculous until you realize how satisfying it is to ricochet it off walls to clear a room.
The first level throws you right into the chaos: bright, jittery puppet-theater backgrounds, enemies popping out of nowhere, and this bouncy, carnival-like soundtrack that somehow fits perfectly. I died like three times before I figured out you can grab different power-up heads (the drill one is my favorite for chewing through bosses).
It's got that classic Treasure quirk—every stage introduces some new ridiculous gimmick, like a level that scrolls backward or a boss fight where you're dodging giant playing cards. Not gonna lie, some of the later stages get brutal, but in that "one more try" way. If you missed this back in the day, it's still a blast to play now.
