Dragon’s Lair (unreleased) Game

So, Dragon’s Lair for the Genesis was one of those "lost" games—meant to come out but never did. I got my hands on a ROM of it recently, and man, it’s rough but weirdly charming. You play as this knight who moves kinda stiffly, swinging a sword at dragons that look like they’re made of pixelated Play-Doh. The hit detection is… questionable, but there’s something about the chunky sprites and that classic Sega screechy soundtrack that makes it feel like a weird alternate universe version of Golden Axe.
First level throws you straight into a castle with these awkward jumps over lava pits (you’ll miss a few times, trust me). The dragons breathe fire in these weirdly slow arcs, so dodging feels more like luck than skill at first. But once you get the timing down, it’s oddly satisfying—like you’re outsmarting a game that’s barely holding itself together. Definitely more of a curiosity than a hidden masterpiece, but if you’re into retro "what-ifs," it’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect it to replace Ghouls ’n Ghosts in your rotation.
