Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is one of those rare DBZ RPGs that actually gets it right. You start off right after the Piccolo Jr. saga, with Goku and the gang training for what’s coming next—and yeah, you know the Saiyans are on their way. The turn-based combat feels surprisingly deep for a DS game, with combo attacks that chain together if you time your button presses right. Nothing beats pulling off a full-team Kamehameha.
What I love is how it sticks close to the anime’s vibe—you’ll revisit classic moments like the World Martial Arts Tournament, but with little twists that keep it fresh. The sprite work is clean, and the animations for special moves actually feel powerful, not just flashy. Only downside? Some grinding between story beats, but hey, that’s classic DBZ pacing for you. If you ever wanted a proper RPG version of the early Z sagas, this is it.
