Dragon Ball Z - Attack of the Saiyans is one of those DS RPGs that actually gets the feel of the anime right. You start off as Goku and the gang right after the World Tournament, and before long, Raditz shows up to kick off the Saiyan arc. The turn-based combat has this cool timing mechanic—press A at the right moment during attacks to boost damage, which keeps fights from feeling too mindless.
What surprised me was how much it leans into classic JRPG exploration. You’ll wander through maps, find hidden items, and even grind a bit (because, let’s be honest, it’s still DBZ—power levels matter). The sprite work is crisp, and the special moves nail that over-the-top energy blast spectacle. Just don’t expect deep storytelling—it’s pure, nostalgic DBZ action with a solid RPG shell.
