Double Dribble – The Playoff Edition is one of those old-school Sega Genesis basketball games that somehow feels both janky and weirdly satisfying. The animations are choppy, the controls take a second to get used to, but once you figure out the timing for those three-pointers, it’s hard to put down.
You’ve got your basic arcade-style gameplay—fast breaks, alley-oops, and a shot meter that’s way more forgiving than it should be. The playoff mode adds some stakes, though don’t expect deep strategy. Mostly, it’s about sprinting down the court and spamming dunks until the other team gives up.
If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule from the early ‘90s. Just don’t go in expecting NBA 2K.
