About Double Dragon (usa, Europe)
Double Dragon came to the Sega Genesis in 1992, published by Technos Japan Corp. This was during a time when the console was full of arcade conversions, and this one brought the side scrolling brawler home. It fit right in with the kind of straightforward action games people were playing on the system then.
You control one of the Lee brothers, Billy or Jimmy, moving from left to right through city streets and enemy hideouts. Your main goal is to rescue Marian from the Black Warriors gang. You punch, kick, and use weapons like baseball bats and whips that you snatch from defeated foes. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear out all the thugs in one area before moving forward. It can be tough, with enemies swarming you and requiring careful timing to avoid getting cornered. The feeling is one of constant, deliberate movement through a city that feels actively hostile.
