Double Dragon on the Sega Genesis is one of those games that just feels right—two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, throwing down in the streets against an endless stream of thugs. The controls are simple—punch, kick, jump—but there’s something satisfying about landing a well-timed elbow drop or snagging a baseball bat mid-fight.
Playing co-op with a friend is where it really shines, though. You’ll accidentally smack each other as much as the enemies, but that’s half the fun. The levels are short but brutal, especially when the Black Warriors gang up on you. And that final boss? Let’s just say I still remember the first time I beat him after way too many continues.
The music’s got that classic arcade vibe, all crunchy synths and punchy beats. It’s not the deepest game, but it’s pure, chaotic brawling at its best. If you’ve got a buddy and 20 minutes to spare, it’s hard to go wrong.
