Double Dragon on the Sega Genesis came out in 1992, developed by Technos Japan. It was one of the many side-scrolling brawlers you could find on the system at the time, a home version of the arcade game that had been around for a few years. You control Billy or Jimmy Lee, two brothers fighting through city streets to rescue a kidnapped woman. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear out all the thugs in one area before moving to the next. Your main moves are punching, kicking, and grappling enemies. You can also pick up weapons like baseball bats and whips dropped by defeated foes. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially when you get surrounded. It feels like a tough, straightforward fight from start to finish.
