Double Dragon 3 on the Genesis is one of those games that feels like it should be amazing—classic arcade brawler, co-op, the Lee brothers kicking butt—but man, it’s rough around the edges. You start off punching your way through waves of goons, and at first, it’s satisfying in that old-school way. The sprites are chunky, the music’s got that gritty synth vibe, and yeah, throwing a dude into the background never gets old.
But here’s the thing: the controls feel stiff compared to the first two games, and some of the enemy patterns are just cheap. You’ll get swarmed out of nowhere, and the weapons break way too fast. Still, if you’ve got a buddy to play with, it’s dumb fun for a while—just don’t expect it to hold up like Streets of Rage. It’s a weird mix of nostalgia and frustration.
