Disney’s Aladdin on the Sega Genesis is one of those rare movie tie-ins that actually gets it right. You start off jumping across rooftops in Agrabah, dodging guards and chucking apples at them—yeah, for some reason, Aladdin’s weapon of choice is fruit. The animation is crazy smooth for its time, especially when you’re swinging from ropes or riding that magic carpet through the Cave of Wonders.
The soundtrack slaps, too—those Middle Eastern-inspired tunes stick in your head way longer than they should. And the level design? Sneaking through the palace while avoiding those creepy floating Jafar heads never gets old. Just don’t get too cocky with the platforming; some of those jumps are deceptively brutal.
It’s a short but sweet ride, and even after all these years, it still feels like stepping straight into the movie.
