If you grew up with a Sega Genesis, this Disney double-pack probably brings back memories—Castle of Illusion and Quack Shot were two of the best-looking platformers on the system. Mickey’s adventure feels like playing through a cartoon, bouncing on giant mushrooms and dodging toy soldiers in this weird, dreamlike castle. Meanwhile, Quack Shot turns Donald Duck into an Indiana Jones knockoff, complete with a plunger gun and globetrotting levels that actually feel adventurous for a 16-bit game.
Both hold up surprisingly well—Castle of Illusion’s floaty jumps take some getting used to, but the art direction is still gorgeous. Quack Shot’s a bit janky (classic Donald temper, I guess), but the variety keeps it interesting, from pyramid puzzles to vine-swinging in jungles. The music’s pure early-90s Sega cheese in the best way. Definitely a nostalgia trip, but one that’s still fun to revisit.
