Dinosaur King on the DS is basically Pokémon but with dinosaurs, and honestly? That’s all I needed to hear. You start off digging up fossils (with a little stylus minigame—kinda satisfying), then revive them into battle-ready dinos. The rock-paper-scissors combat is simple at first, but some of the late-game matchups get surprisingly tactical.
What I didn’t expect was how much personality the dinos have. The T-Rex does this goofy little victory dance after fights, and the raptors? Total show-offs. The story’s cheesy in that early-2000s anime way, but it works—you’re basically a kid saving the world from evil dinosaur thieves. If you ever wanted to yell "Go, Triceratops!" unironically, this is your game.
Just don’t expect Jurassic Park realism. These dinos shoot lasers.
