About Dinosaur King (eu)
Dinosaur King for the Nintendo DS came out in 2008 from SEGA. It was part of that wave of games based on anime and card battling that felt really common on the handheld at the time. You don't see many people talking about it now, but it had its moment.
You play as a young dinosaur hunter, moving from screen to screen on a world map to find fossils and battle other collectors. The main goal is to build your team of dinosaur monsters and defeat the rival Alpha Gang. The signature mechanics are the rock-paper-scissors style battles, where you choose attack cards with a quick touch screen slash to activate them, and the fossil digging minigame that uses the DS stylus to carefully unearth new dinosaurs. The pacing is straightforward, without much grinding, and the difficulty stays pretty gentle. It feels like a simple, tactile collection game that's easy to pick up and play in short bursts.
