I remember picking up Dick Vitale's Awesome Baby for the Sega Genesis back in 1994. It was published by Time Warner Interactive, and it landed right in the middle of the 16-bit era when sports games were really trying to capture more personality. This one definitely stood out because of its announcer; having Dick Vitale's voice in a basketball game was a big part of the draw at the time.

You control a five man college basketball team, moving your players up and down the court to score baskets and play defense. The main goal is to win the national championship by beating a bracket of teams. A couple of its signature mechanics were the on court power ups that would temporarily boost your team's abilities, and the ability to call specific plays. The pacing is pretty fast, and the game could get difficult, especially against the computer on higher settings. It feels like a chaotic, arcade style take on basketball where a single lucky power up can turn the entire game around.
