Dick Tracy on Sega Genesis is one of those licensed games that actually nails the vibe of the source material. You start off walking these moody, shadowy streets straight out of the comics, and the soundtrack hits you with that jazzy noir feel. At first I thought it was just another beat 'em up, but there’s some legit detective work—you’ve gotta interrogate suspects, follow leads, even bust out your two-way radio to call for backup.
The controls take a minute to get used to (why does jumping feel so stiff?), but once you adjust, it’s satisfying to clean up the streets. Some of the boss fights are brutal—Big Boy’s goons don’t mess around. And yeah, the trench coat physics are ridiculous in that classic 16-bit way. If you’re into retro action with a side of sleuthing, this one’s got charm.
