About Desert Demolition
Desert Demolition came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega. It was part of that wave of licensed platformers that filled the shelves, this one starring Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner from the Looney Tunes cartoons. You could feel the 16-bit era's push for colorful, fast moving games that tried to capture the energy of Saturday morning cartoons right in your living room.
You control either Wile E. Coyote or the Road Runner across a series of desert stages. The main goal is straightforward: race to the finish line before time runs out, while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. Wile E. has access to his ACME gadgets, like bombs and springs, which you can use to attack or navigate tricky jumps. The Road Runner relies purely on speed and a quick dash attack to plow through obstacles. The game moves quickly, with a difficulty that spikes sharply on later levels, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions to the constant barrage of falling rocks and enemy birds. It feels like a frantic scramble across a dangerous playground.
