Davis Cup World Tour Tennis on the Genesis is one of those old-school sports games that somehow nails the feel of actual tennis without overcomplicating things. You pick your country (I always went with Australia—no idea why), and suddenly you're in these surprisingly tense matches where every serve actually matters.
The controls are simple—just a couple of buttons for different shots—but timing is everything. Miss a swing by a split second, and the ball goes flying into the stands. The AI isn’t brutal, but it’s sneaky good at punishing lazy returns. And yeah, the graphics are obviously dated now, but there’s something satisfying about the way the players slide across the court like they’re on ice.
It’s not flashy, but if you’ve ever wanted a no-nonsense tennis game that actually makes you think about placement and angles, this one holds up better than most from that era. Just don’t blame me when you start muttering at the screen after a bad volley.
