About Danny Sullivan?s Indy Heat (prototype)
Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat was a prototype racing game for the Sega Genesis that never saw a full release. Developed by Rare and published by Tradewest, it was part of a small wave of early titles exploring what the new 16-bit hardware could do for the racing genre. It existed at a time when developers were figuring out how to translate the arcade racing experience into a home console format.
You control a single Indy car driver competing in a multi-race championship. The main objective is to finish each race in a high enough position to earn points and ultimately win the season. Signature mechanics include drafting behind other cars to gain a speed boost and managing your car's fuel and tire wear, which forces you into the pits for strategic stops. The racing is fast and the pack stays tight, making it difficult to pull away from competitors. It feels like a straightforward, no-frills arcade racer where your focus stays on the track ahead.
