Crying – Aseimei Sensou Game

Ever booted up a Genesis game and immediately felt like you'd stumbled onto something weird and special? That's Crying – Aseimei Sensou for you. No official blurb exists, but within minutes you're thrown into this moody, slightly off-kilter world where the pixel art somehow makes rain look heavier and footsteps louder.
It's part side-scroller, part... something else? You'll slash through enemies with a satisfying weight to your attacks, but then suddenly hit these bizarre puzzle sections where the screen flips or perspective shifts. One second you're fighting shadowy soldiers, the next you're rearranging tiles to open a door while this haunting chiptune track plays. The whole thing feels like playing a lost 90s anime OVA.
Fair warning: the difficulty spikes are brutal in places (that damn bridge level), but when it clicks, it's got that "one more try" magic. If you dig obscure action games with atmosphere thicker than a Sega CD cutscene, give it a shot.
