About Crude Buster (japan)
Crude Buster came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by Data East. It was part of that wave of early nineties action games that filled out the console's library, a straightforward arcade style experience you could play at home.
You control one of two mercenaries, the "Two Crude Dudes," fighting through a post apocalyptic New York. Your goal is to dismantle the Big Valley terrorist group by clearing each area of enemies. The core gameplay is built on screen by screen exploration; you move through a stage, and once all enemies in that single screen are defeated, you can proceed. Your main actions are punching and using a special screen clearing bomb attack. You can also pick up and throw enemies, which is useful for crowd control. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with aggressive enemy placements. Playing it feels like a constant, hectic brawl where you are always outnumbered.
