Cosmic Spacehead came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, published by Codemasters. It was part of that wave of games trying to blend different genres, standing out with its cartoon style and a mix of point and click adventure with action platforming. You don't see many games from that time that tried to combine such distinct styles of play on a console.

You control Cosmic, a little green alien who has crashed on Earth and needs to get back home. Your main goal is to gather the parts for a new spaceship by exploring the world, solving puzzles, and talking to a cast of odd characters. The gameplay shifts between two main modes: navigating static screens in an adventure style to find items and clues, and then jumping into side scrolling platforming sections to reach new areas. The puzzles can be quite obscure, requiring a lot of trial and error, and the platforming parts are surprisingly tough, demanding precise jumps. Despite the occasional frustration, there's a real satisfaction in finally figuring out a stubborn puzzle and seeing the story move forward.
